Followers Demand Custody of Person Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Loyal followers of the pop star are demanding that a individual who breached a fence and seized the actress during the recent Wicked: For Good debut be taken into custody or deported from Singapore.
A widely shared clip depicts the Australian man bypassing photographers and lunging at Grande while the actors made its way down a yellow carpet accompanied by fans.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo promptly pulled the shocked star away from Mr Wen, who was observed being led away of the event by security officers.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "let go after being arrested", though court documents showed that he was set to attend court on the next day. It is unknown if he was charged.
Record of Disruptions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Troll Most Hated", has crashed a concert or event. His Instagram account contains clips of him disrupting other star-studded functions, including jumping on stage at the artist's Sydney performance in June this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers concert in the area last December.
"There needs to be action applied against him as this is obviously a criminal offence," commented an Instagram commenter, in a message to a video Mr Wen posted of his actions.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" another Instagram user questioned.
Followers Voice Worry Over Ariana's Safety
Several supporters criticized Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had revealed suffering from trauma-related anxiety after a terrorist explosion at the finale of her May 2017 performance in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and wounding many.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" commented one more response on Instagram.
Some supporters also faulted security officers at the premiere for not being adequately prepared; while some requested digital services to ban Mr Wen's content.
Aftermath and Event Details
In clips spreading on the internet, Grande seemed surprised when she was approached by the man. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted reassuring her while Mr Wen was escorted away by staff.
Grande has not issued a statement on the situation, and the rest of the event continued without further issues.
Hundreds of fans had gathered in a crowd of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good regional launch in a Singapore mall, including a number who had stood in line for as long as a significant duration before it commenced.
The movie, to be launched on November 21, is the second of a two-film version of the well-known theatrical show Wicked, which centers on the unlikely relationship between two contrasting sorceresses.
The musical itself is a adaptation of the twentieth-century book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was decked out in a champagne pink sparkling outfit at the event while Erivo, who portrays the Elphaba, wore a black tube gown decorated with roses.
They were alongside fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the top-earning movie of 2024 in the UK, and received a dozen Oscar nominations, securing two for best costume and set decoration.
